Gaijin Goombah Con Picture

Video Game Tournament Host: Gaijin Goombah!

After gaining a degree in International Relations, living abroad, and spending two years in the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program, Gaijin Goombah decided to devote his YouTube career to teaching multiculturalism around the world through the medium of video games.

From recent to retro, he explains a multitude of cultural references found in these games, and how video games can better educate the world about not only different cultures, but also perspectives and ways of thinking. Together with the other Game Theorists, MatPat, Drake, and Ronnie Oni Edwards, Gaijin pursues something more than just mind-rotting in games; Education and understanding of the world we live in.

Spring 2014 A2F Featured Guest Rachel Robinson

Rachel Robinson

rachelmd Rachel Robinson’s voice spans the arenas of national commercials, animation, videogames, narration, promos and now, most recently, anime. She is likely best known for her indelible role as Oerba Yun Fang, of Final Fantasy XIII, reprising it in Final Fantasy XIII-2. She is thrilled to reveal that she will be reprising the role for the third and final (ha) time in Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy.

Rachel was also just announced as playing lead role Unchou Kan’u in the upcoming series Ikki Tousen: Great Guardians and sequel series Ikki Tōsen: Xtreme Xecutor.

She’s also known for two diabolical and soulless villainesses: the tattooed, fun-loving and chain-smoking Nazi vampire, Zorin Blitz in the bloody and beloved Hellsing Ultimate; and Empress Megaria, Lord of the Darkness Realm, in Kaijudo: Rise of the Duel Masters.zorinblitz1

Other roles as of late include The White Mage in Bravely Default, Celsius, Summon Spirit of Ice (another happy-go-lucky gal); in the latest release in the Tales franchise, Tales of Xillia; Empress Megaria in Kaijudo: Rise/Clash of the Duel Masters (original animation) and Rox Whetstone (and other ancillary characters) in Guild Wars 2. Other recent role announcements are as lead role Commander Nowak in Q.U.B.E.: Director’s Cut and the role of Nova in voice-controlled strategy game There Came an Echo with Wil Wheaton.

Additionally, she can be heard as both Pamela Anderson and Verne Troyer in Celebrity Death Match (MTV2), 2 bitchy girls in American Dad!, Sara Sidle in CSI: Fatal Conspiracy; Vera Cortez in the online comic companion piece to the popular Dead Space, and, playing against type, Mary; Mother of Jesus, in That Darn Jesus in the film Universal Remote; as well as many other auxiliary hither-and-yon characters. She has been, for nearly ten years, the voice of all untelevised awards ceremonies for NARAS (those folks who dole out the Grammys), has voicematched Sarah Michelle Gellar, and can be heard in David Heatley’s paean to suburban white girls, um, “Suburban White Girls”. As a suburban white girl.
